| Sunday, February 12, 2012, 10:00 a.m. | Winter Trees and Birds, Waterfall Glen Forest Preserve |
|
Birders are often challenged when directing others to the tree where the bird is perched. Tree identification is often the problem. This trip provides field experience on tree identification. Scott Kobal is a Plant Ecologist for the DuPage Forest Preserve. He has agreed to lead a special field trip to help us learn to identify some basic trees that grow in our local forests. Winter provides the opportunity to pick out characteristics of trees that we may not see in the "leafy" seasons. Scott wants participants to have a good experience; so, the trip is limited to 20 people.
Bob Spitzer will help coordinate this unique field trip. Contact Bob to register. Participants need to register by Feb 5th. Waterfall Glen has an abundance of tree and bird species. We will stop for lunch together after our walk to discuss what we have learned. Meet at the Forest Preserve parking lot off Bluff Road, just east of the corner of Bluff Rd. and Cass Avenue. From I-55, exit Cass south to the Buff Road turn. Be sure to wear clothing and boots for winter walking on the trails. Waterfall Glen Website. | |
