This and That...Don't miss the Gull Frolic on Saturday, February 18 at North Point Marina, Winthrop Harbor in Lake County. A great opportunity to view large numbers of gulls with a good chance of spotting an uncommon species! Also learn how to identify those difficult immature gulls. Preregistration is required and limited to the first 150 people! The Chicago Audubon Society will host its ninth biennial Birding America Conference on Saturday, March 17, 2012 at North Park University, 3225 West Foster Avenue in Chicago. The conference consistently draws an enthusiastic audience of Chicago-area birders with a full range of birding skills and interests. The format consists of presentations by regional and national experts on key birding locales, both local and international. Also, skill development workshops on bird ID and other bird-related topics will be offered, as well as the opportunity to network with other birders and browse related exhibits. Listen to DBC President, Vicky Sroczynski's audio interview with WDCB News reporter, Yolanda Perdomo as they discuss Snowy Owl arrivals in Chicago. Read about Tribune reporter William Mullen's excellent adventure as he writes about his experience with fellow DBC birders at last month's Fermi Lab Circle Christmas Bird count. | ||||||||
